Fund renewals for Boston DACA recipients!
Donation Deadline: Oct. 2, 2017 at midnight
The Story
The recent announcement of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program (DACA) coming to an end means DACA renewals will be possible for a few weeks ONLY (until October 5, 2017) for people who's DACA work permit expires between September 5, 2017, and March 5, 2018. Each application costs $495. The more we raise, the more struggling Dreamer neighbors we are able to fund. 100% of the funds will go to DACA beneficiaries who need to apply for their renewal by October 5, 2017.
A group of representatives of Jamaica Plain-Roxbury non-profits, including City Life/Vida Urbana, Southern JP Health Center, First Baptist Church JP, Tree of Life, ACEDONE, JPNDC, SIM, Hyde Square Task Force and others has formed a JP-Rox immigrant solidarity network. Faced with this new threat, we decided to raise funds to help pay the DACA renewal fees for the Dreamers in our communities. There has already been money made available for legal support, but very little to help Dreamers pay these huge fees.
Most students and immigrants cannot raise $495 on short notice. Please help!
CLVU has volunteered to receive and pass on all contributions to Agencia Alpha, earmarked for DACA renewal fees. Agencia Alpha will be conducting legal workshops in our community to help Dreamers reapply for DACA status, website: http://www.agenciaalpha.org
