We're Hiring Rent Control Field Organizers!

Position Title: Rent Control Field Organizer
Reports To: Rent Control Campaign Organizer
Location: Hybrid – Eastern MA (in person civic engagement work in multiple counties in Eastern MA)
Salary Range: $30-35/hour
Type of Position: Temporary full-time (40 hours/week)

City Life Vida Urbana (CLVU) seeks three temporary Rent Control Field Organizers who will report to the Rent Control Campaign Organizer. City Life/Vida Urbana is a member organization of the Homes for All MA Coalition and involved in the Keep Massachusetts Home Campaign to win statewide rent control in Massachusetts. Between April 15, 2026 and December 15, 2026, Organizers will serve as team leads for rent control campaign civic engagement, including the spring signature drive and voter outreach and education in the summer and fall. This role involves substantial weekend and evening work.

Key Responsibilities
Campaign Outreach & Infrastructure
● Outreach to agencies, organizations and community members to host conversations about rent control
● Work with the CLVU Rent Control Campaign Organizer to set up infrastructure for verifying new signatures and infrastructure on drop off and pick ups with city/town clerks
● Work with supervisor and statewide campaign to develop field canvassing plan
● Attend community events for signature collection and volunteer recruitment
● Lead and participate in collection of ballot signatures
Volunteer Management
● Identify volunteers to support the field work (door knocking) in summer and fall of 2026
● Expand the Volunteer List with contact information
● Train new volunteers on signature collection and voter outreach, including how-to
● Train and support volunteer leads in Minivan (voter data management applications) and the importance of door knocking data collection
● Implement a field plan with your volunteer base
● Maintain communication with the volunteer base
● Communicate with volunteers about events for signature collection and canvassing
Data Collection & Management
● Safely store completed and blank signature sheets
● Organize completed sheets by municipalities
● Update events calendar when necessary
● Keep data updated during all civic engagement field work
● Maintain communication with CLVU about meeting goals, struggles, support needed and successes
● Drive petition materials to and from clerk offices
● Sort and label ballot materials

Qualifications
Required:
● Experience with civic engagement work, especially on ballot campaigns
● Experience with community organizing
● Experience using MiniVan, Van or other similar voter data management applications
● Valid Drivers License and car, position will require work in various locations not accessible by public transportation
Preferred:
● Multilingual abilities (Spanish, Haitian Creole, Portuguese).
