Over the last fifty years, thousands of community residents and City Life members have contributed their brilliance, time, and energy to build our powerful organizing force. We had humble beginnings as the Jamaica Plain Tenant Action Group in the early 1970’s, and ever since, we’ve organized families and communities against displacement for profit. 

We continue to deepen our organizing work since 1973 – building by building, block by block – to build a strong and united housing justice movement.
