Today, the Northside Bank Tenant Assoc. (the East Boston, Revere, Malden area) will sponsor a rally against Wells Fargo. One of their members is Soeurette Sainto, whose family has been approved for a new mortgage by the non-profit lender, Boston Community Capital. Wells, however, refuses to negotiate until Ms. Sainto is evicted.

“This isn’t even about money,” stated Dominic Desiata, a City Life organizer in East Boston. “It’s just about punishing homeowners. Wells will get the same money either way.”
This action is the second in a series of late October and November rallies aimed at the Banks called “Occupy November”. “We were occupying buildings and doing eviction blockades before Occupy Boston in Dewey Park,” said Melonie Griffiths, an organizer with City Life. “But #Occupy has helped the movement grow even more.”
The Bank Tenant Movement is composed of organizations at 8 locations in New England using parts of a model of organizing originally developed by City Life Vida Urbana. These sites are Boston, “Northside”, Chelsea, Lynn, Worcester, Merrimack Valley, Springfield, and Providence.
The Bank Tenant organizations were a key component of a huge, 3000-person march on Bank of America September 30, where 24 people were arrested. This march was led by the Right to the City Coalition.
The series of actions in Occupy November will peak with a regional rally against Bank of America in Springfield on Nov. 21.
“President Obama has recently used the phrase ‘We can’t wait!’”, noted DARE organizer Chris Rotondo in Providence. “We agree. We can’t wait. We will protest to defend our homes.”
