DC Protests Target K Street Lobbyists
During the first week of December, City Life joined a caravan of more than 250 people headed to Washington, DC, where we joined with thousands of activists from across the country for Take Back the Capitol. On Tuesday, we joined half of the Massachusetts delegation in Sen. Scott Brown’s office, where we requested a meeting. Eight hours later, there was still no Senator Brown, and we left empty-handed. The following day, we took our fight to K St., the hub of corporate lobbying power in DC. Our friends at MassUniting explain:
We joined thousands of other unemployed workers and community activists demanding accountability – both from their elected officials and the corporate lobbyists who have bought their favor through lavish campaign spending.
The Real News Network followed the march, and spoke with City Life’s Theresa Simpson.
